This year, the Zurich Film Festival is excited to present 20 exceptional talents who are set to redefine the cinematic landscape. From groundbreaking directors and innovative producers to brilliant screenwriters, these rising stars come from all corners of the globe to join our exclusive 5-day talent promotion programme from October 9 to October 13, 2024. From top left to bottom right: Kristine De Leon - Producer - Philippines Kristine specializes in international co-productions, having produced a Cannes-selected short film and currently working on RIA, developed at Cannes La Résidence.
Alexandre Schild - Director - Switzerland Alexandre, a self-taught filmmaker from Geneva, Switzerland, has gained recognition at festivals such as International Kurzfilmtage Winterthur for his short film on the theme about adolescence and is now developing his first feature film.
Amir Zargara - Director - Canada Amir is an Iranian-Canadian writer and director known for his powerful storytelling, shaped by his immigrant journey and personal experiences, with films that have been acclaimed at major festivals. (black list note)
Anne-Louise Lucas - Producer - Denmark Based in Copenhagen, Anne-Louise is a producer at Stikling Film with credits including the Danish features Birthday Girland Unruly, as well as the festival-selected short Aquari.
Antonio Sequeira - Director - Portugal London Film School graduate and BAFTA member, Antonio was named “25 Screenwriters to Watch” by Moviemaker magazine. His debut feature Autumn won the Audience Award at Austin Film Festival and was selected for Torino Film Lab. He also directed the series Instaverse for RTP.
Blaine Isreal - Director - USA With a diverse background in acting, directing, and writing, Blaine has studied at global top institutions and brings unique experiences from his time as a monk and Peace Corps volunteer.
Clara Stern - Director - Austria From theatre and journalism to directing at the Film Academy Vienna, her short film MATHIAS won an Austrian Academy Award, and her feature BREAKING THE ICE premiered at Tribeca Film Festival. She also directed the TV-comedy ZWEI GEGEN DIE BANK in 2023.
Fabrizio Muscia - Screenwriter - Italy An Italian writer and producer who has developed TV projects with Fremantle’s The Apartment, Eric Barmack’s Wild Sheep and Viola Film. In 2023, he was in a writers’ room led by Tony Grisoni and produced a CNN mini doc. He’s now writing a short starring Victoria Pedretti in the lead role.
Isaac Tomiczek - Screenwriter - UK Isaac, a writer and director known for his compelling work, made The Brit List 2022 with TWO BECOME ONE. He's written for Hulu's SPELLBOUND and directed for Channel 4 and the BBC. His debut feature, DEAD AIR, is in Film London's PFM New Talent Strand.
Isabella Oliveira Parise Kröger - Screenwriter - Germany Isabella is a German-Brazilian screenwriter who creates for international cinema audiences, recognized for her award-winning debut and her ability to bridging cultures.
Jessica Riches - Screenwriter - UK Writer of MOONSHOT with Stephen Fry and the award-winning horror romance BEAUTIFUL THINGS. Developing three genre-mash features and leading the MESSY Writers Collective.
Jethro Massey - Director - France British-French filmmaker Jethro explores the poetic and absurd, from the Bolshoi to the Malian savannah. His debut feature, Paul & Paulette TAKE A BATH, premiered at Venice Critics Week 2024.
Juefang Zhang - Producer - USA Juefang, an Emmy-nominated producer and director from China, now based in LA, specializes in female-centric Asian thrillers and international co-productions. Currently, she heads Film & TV at When Pigs Fly Films Studios, developing international genre projects.
Lena Milovic - Director - Denmark Lena, a Danish-Montenegrin director and writer based in Copenhagen, creates films that challenge systems and norms, focusing on vulnerable characters in diverse settings. A Super16 graduate (2022), she is now developing her debut feature film.
Loredana Rehekampff - Producer - Austria Loredana co-founded Samsara Filmproduktion in 2017 and serves as its CEO. Her award-winning productions include RUBIKON and KLAMMER - CHASING THE LINE. A graduate of EAVE and ProPro, she is also an expert at Eurimages and Creative Media and sits on the Kitzbuhel Film Festival advisory board.
Margaux Fazio - Director - Switzerland Based in Switzerland, Margaux won the Grand Prix at the 2023 Nikon Film Festival and is now focused on new short films and her debut feature. (graduated ECAL)
Michael Kalb - Producer - Germany Michael, a German producer and director, has showcased his work at top festivals like the Berlinale and the IDFA, and is now developing new projects with the support of international film funds.
Pascal Glatz - Screenwriter - Switzerland Pascal, a Swiss writer and musician, co-wrote seasons 3 and 4 of TSCHUGGER and season 1 of MALONEY. He’s currently head writer for a new sitcom and creator of the thriller series GOLD.
Perihan Incegöz - Director - Switzerland Perihan, a filmmaker with a background in nursing, debuted her documentary feature SUKWAN'S ISLAND at RIDM 2022, earning awards and further recognintion at other international festivals. She is now working on a new documentary and a fiction film.
Sophia Mocorrea - Director - Germany Sophia, a German-Argentinean filmmaker, explores cross-cultural youth issues. Her short THE KIDNAPPING OF THE BRIDE won Best International Short at Sundance 2023. She’s developing her debut feature, which won the Les Arcs Talent Village Award.
